My works are largely influenced by both contemporary and traditional pop culture. I find that using pieces from Indonesia provides valuable visual references which are both beautiful and timeless. I’m inspired by its use of languid shapes and bold striking colors. In contrast to that, my interest in the western modern world also incites a feeling of connection to the minimalist and functionally-driven designs that thrive there. These two combinations create my own style that’s distinctive and niche. While working in projects I feel as though my style enables me to do a more soulful approach to usually-mundane graphics such as logos or social media. Since I’ve had more experience working with corporate brands, I understand their need for professionalism and friendliness. Though I’ve always felt as ‘corporate design’ is starting to become synonymous with ‘boring’. Because of that, I aim to do ‘fun corporate’. ‘Unique but clean’. Using a mesh of funky traditional graphics and enmeshing it with modern design.
I enrolled in St. Albertus Catholic High in Malang in 2016, where I focused on Languages. In my focus, I studied global issues and cultures through subjects such as Japanese Literature, Anthropology, French, and debate.
Brought up in a Chinese-Indonesian family, I’ve always had the tendency to priotize family and collaboration above all else. My exposure to western media on the other hand, aka. long nights of watching Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network, gave me the drive to be independent and more curious than most other kids. My Javanese culture though, taught me appreciation for simple things in life
